Some people are visiting the desert, and some of us live and work here all year. What we have in common is appreciation of this modern oasis—even in the summer.
Events like the Splash House pool party weekends, the film noir and short film festivals, concerts, and art events are turning the desert from dark to destination in the “offseason.”
How will you capitalize on this growing audience?
CDAC invites visual and performing artists, as well as arts leaders (especially programmers and marketers) to come listen, share, and network at our first (and free!) arts salon Wednesday, May 17. The topic is Summer Strategies for Creative Professionals, and we have lined up three inspiring presenters:
- Arlene Amick, director of audience engagement and communications at Palm Springs Art Museum, which runs a film series, compelling exhibitions, and other programs in the summer
- Joyce Kiehl, director of communications at Greater Palm Springs CVB, which is eager to promote art and culture events all year, but especially in the summer to help fill the hotel properties
- Erick Lemus, a freelance consultant who has collaborated on events with the City of Indio, California Partnership, Eastern Coachella Valley Building Healthy Communities, The Hue Festival, and Comic Con Palm Springs
Come hear them share their experiences, ideas, and advice, and then join the Q&A and network with your peers.
The salon begins at 5:30 p.m. and continues until 7 p.m. at CREATE Center for the Arts, located at 73446 Highway 111 (111 at San Pablo Avenue) in Palm Desert. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
